Stake and Strand Willow Workshop at the Farm May 10

from $150.00
sold out

Join me for an inaugural workshop at the willow farm! This could be the perfect way to spend Mother’s Day :)

This all day workshop will cover weaving a stake and strand basket from willow grown right here. The basket demonstrated will be a skib: a traditional Irish style of basket used as a serving tray. This big round basket also looks beautiful stored hanging on the wall in between meals! This same technique can also be used for making a smaller handled woven tote; the choice is yours for what to transform your precious willow rods into.

Cost of the workshop includes instruction, enough willow material for a 18” dia x 6” tall skib, and discussion of how to grow and harvest willow for basketry.

Best of all, my dear friend and neighbor Erin Torgerson of Seeds and Salt will be making lunch for us! Vegetarian lunch and snacks will include ingredients grown right next door at her newly minted farm. The lunch is a $35 optional add-on: pay in advance after you’ve selected your sliding scale workshop tier to make sure to reserve your delicious meal.

Located in Efland, NC…exact address and details on what to bring, etc. emailed after sign up.

Note: All levels welcome, but moderate hand strength is required for working with willow.
