“Reservoir” 2022 Birch bark, red osier dogwood, willow, flagging tape, steel. “Reservoir” employs the language of basketweaving to create a sculptural map of a body of water. I created this piece while staying in Western Massachusetts using materials gathered from around Mt. Williams Reservoir, which I visited often during my time there.

"In The Balance", 2019. Steel, hand engraved, hand-made chain. 24"w x 27"h x 2.5"d. This piece is a quiet monument to the Northern Spotted Owl, an endangered owl species who was central to a successful lawsuit aimed at protecting old-growth timber forests in southern Oregon.

I was interested in this story and portraying the reclusive creature at the center of a bitter battle between environmentalists and industry; between preventing species extinction and loss of livelihood; between the deep scale of ecological time and the short view of capitalism, with its immediate repercussions.
